Hi! I'm Lacey (she/they)

I'm a birth enthusiast and a bit of a science nerd.  I received my Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology in 2012.  I worked in sleep research for a few years before I realized that although sleep is interesting, I needed to be in a job that completely engaged me.  From as far back as I can remember I have been fascinated by, and in awe of, pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum days, so in 2017 I made the switch.  I trained with Cornerstone Doula Trainings in Oakland, CA which centers advocacy, intersectionality, and trauma-informed care and harm reduction, and a few months later I attended my first birth - that of my niece!

I am an East Coast native, but lived about ten years on the West Coast where I have worked in two birth centers and with four home birth midwives.  I’ve supported 120+ families and individuals in their labor and birth journey over the course of 4 years, and 30+ families in their early postpartum period (sometimes called The Fourth Trimester) over the course of 8 years.

It is crucial that there is a healthy baby and a healthy parent at the culmination of your pregnancy, but it is nearly as important to me that you feel empowered as you transition into this new role as Parent.  In my opinion, that comes from having the knowledge and tools to advocate for yourself, and having your people around you to remind you that, when you may be feeling unsure, you CAN do this, you ARE doing this, and you've got this!
